Oh winter, the long, dark and cold season many of us dread. The holidays are over and the sun is sleeping in. Our bodies seems to need more rest this time of year and motivation can dwindle.
- Set goals and plan your week. For example, four workouts, one leisure activity and tracking your food. Follow up on Sunday; how did you do?
- Strive for progress, not perfection. Can’t find time to fit in a workout? Park far when you get to work, take the stairs, use the treadmill during a conference call, walk your dog or do some stretching to feel your blood flow. Everything counts.
- Be accountable. Find a buddy (or a personal trainer) that you commit to with set appointments for your workouts. Research shows you will have more success when you commit to someone else.
- Tap into the wide world of virtual workouts. YouTube offers great options you can do from your living room. Personal Training by Jenny DeRosa offers virtual training sessions.
